On Friday, March 8, 2024, Habitat for Humanity Red Deer hosted a WomenBUILD day at their Red Deer Evergreen build location in celebration of International Women’s Day. WomenBUILD days encourage women to join Habitat Red Deer on the build site for a day of learning, building, and empowerment. Team members from Black Press Media, along with some of the newest Habitat partner families, had a fun-filled day learning to hang doors for the four new homes.
As part of the Habitat for Humanity Affordable Homeownership Program, future homeowners must complete 500 volunteer hours before taking possession of their new homes.
In 2021, forty percent of the families served across the Habitat Canada federation were single, women-led households with dependent children. Three of the four partner families moving into the Red Deer Evergreen homes are single, women-led families.
Your company can make a lasting impact by participating in a teamBUILD on-site! Each build team will learn new skills and work in small groups to accomplish build tasks while learning about each other and fostering stronger working relationships. And at the end of the day, your team will be able to say, “We helped build that home!” For more information on how you can sign your team up, visit www.habitatreddeer.ca/team-build
