SOROPTIMIST’S WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION!!

Saturday, March 9/2024, Soroptimist International of Central Alberta held their Women’s Day celebration at the Blackfalds Community Centre.

Our 2024 awards were presented to these amazing women and girls:

Live Your Dream award – Jessi Senkoe, from Red Deer, a single mom of one, attending RDP in the Nursing program.

Live Your Dream award – Anna-Marie Jensen, from Blackfalds, a single mom of three, who aspires to be a lawyer.

Violet Richardson award – Kayla Gutfriend, from Blackfalds, who volunteers for the Blackfalds Library and the Town of Blackfalds.

Violet Richardson award – Jasmine Le, from Red Deer, who volunteers at Lindsay Thurber in the Unified Sports program, Career club and as an educational assistant.

Ruby Award – for Women helping Women – Deena Kordt, podcaster, publisher, author, coach and creator of UGlowGRL, a place for women to find recognition, encouragement and inspiration.

Our International Fashion show featured models from Mexico, India, Phillipines, El Salvador, Somalia and Sudan. Thank you Susana, Surekha, Norhel, Florence, Heidy, Zainab and Flora, for sharing about the countries you were representing.

Thank you to all who brought menstrual products for the Period Promise, to help end period poverty in our community. These supplies have already been distributed by United Way of Central Alberta to agencies who need them.
