DRESS FOR SUCCESS – SUCCESS STORI E S UNPLUGGED! !

On May 21, 2024 a packed house at Bo’s Bar & Stage celebrated leadership, mentorship and giving back to your community as part of the first ever Success Stories Unplugged event created by Dress for Success Central Alberta.

The event kicked off with a keynote address from Emma May, founder of the Calgary based digitally native fashion brand SophieGrace.ca. Emma spoke candidly about the realities of entrepreneurship, the value of mentorship and the benefits that come from refusing to settle.

The all-star panel of local business owners and community leaders was the highlight of the event for many. Led by panel moderator Stuart Cullum, Lyn Radford, Shazma Charania, John Donald, Mark Jones and Emma May shared authentic stories and insights about taking risks, creating your own definition of success and what drives them to give back to our community.

“Encouraging leadership and growth is fundamental to the success of the clients Dress for Success Central Alberta serves,” shared Erin Forbes Executive Director of Dress for Success Central Alberta. “We are very proud to have provided a platform to discuss and foster these values, it can only serve to make our community stronger.”

Over $30,000 was raised at Success Stories Unplugged, funds that will be utilized to build a Client Resource Hub for Dress for Success Central Alberta clients. This new and unique resource will help prepare local women for that first good job, ensure a smooth transition to a new role as well as offer resources and inspiration for growth in their careers.

Dress for Success Central Alberta offers long lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty and create economic independence. The local non-profit organization will help over 400 local women in 2024 by providing professional attire, career services and skill development programs.
